RAAus and AirServices Australia Scholarships

The RAAus Scholarship Program has been instrumental in supporting hundreds of individuals in achieving their dreams of becoming pilots, instructors, and maintainers. For nearly 15 years, this program has provided crucial seed funding to help offset the costs of flight training, making it more accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Thanks to the ongoing contributions from Airservices, OzRunways, GoFly Aviation, and the support of our Flight Training Schools, the RAAus Scholarship Program is able to continue its mission of helping people pursue their passion for aviation. Without the generosity of these organisations and individuals, many aspiring aviators would not have the financial resources necessary to pursue their goals.

The RAAus Scholarship Program has already made a significant impact in the aviation community. By supporting individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life, we are helping to ensure a strong future of aviation in Australia.

Tumut Aero Club Scholarships

The Tumut Aero Club is giving young aviation enthusiasts the chance to learn to fly, thanks to the Michael O’Neill Memorial Scholarship Fund, established through the generosity of the late Michael O’Neill.

The first scholarship recipients, Daniel and Darcy, have made impressive progress. Daniel achieved his first solo in April 2024, passed his RPC exam on 26 April, and has since completed his cross-country endorsement, he has since taken his grandparents for a flight over the stunning Tumut Valley! Darcy also reached his solo milestone on 21 April, gaining well-earned recognition in the local community.

Now, two new students, Dallas and Mia, are following in their footsteps. Dallas completed his first solo on 14 October—before even getting his car licence—and is now building hours toward his flight test. Mia, the club’s first female scholarship recipient, went solo late last year with a beaming smile that said it all. She’s been preparing for her RPC exam early this year.

Thanks to the generosity of Michael O’Neill, funding has supported six students, each receiving up to 25 flight hours over three years, with two students per year. However, this funding is set to expire later this year.

The Tumut Aero Club is eager to keep this incredible program alive—but they need support to make it happen. Do you know a business or organisation that might be interested in backing the next generation of aviators? If so, please reach out to secretary@tumutaeroclub.org.au to help keep this opportunity available!

Kangawallafox Scholarships

Kangawallafox Flight School in Chinchilla is offering an exciting scholarship opportunity for Year 11 students, designed to give back to the local community and support recreational aviation. Each year, two students—one from Chinchilla State High School and one from Chinchilla Christian College—are selected.

The program provides 20 hours of free flight training, with students covering minimal additional costs such as RAAus membership and flight test fees. Applications open at the start of Term 4, with successful candidates announced before the end of the school year. Training takes place over the summer holidays, allowing students to begin Year 12 as qualified recreational pilots.

The 2024 recipients, Sophie Scutchings and Roy Moore, have made impressive progress, with Sophie already completing her RPC flight test. The program continues to grow, with potential support from local businesses to expand opportunities to more schools.

Do you have a scholarship program that deserves the spotlight? We’d love to help spread the word and showcase opportunities that support aspiring aviators.
